Attachment Parenting
A philosophy where children form a life-long emotional bond through sensitive and emotional parenting. "A close attachment after birth and beyond allows the natural, biological attachment-promoting behaviors of the infant and the intuitive, biological, caregiving qualities of the mother to come together. Both members of this biological pair get off to the right start at a time when the infant is most needy and the mother is most ready to nurture. Bonding is a series of steps in your lifelong growing together with your child." - Dr. Sears.

Baby Wearing
Kangaroo Care
The practice of holding your baby to your chest. The more skin contact the better, although most parents prefer to keep the baby diapered. This is usually started at birth and is continuous sometimes while medical support is provided. Kangaroo care helps your baby maintain their body temperature, regulate their heart and breathing rates and spend more time in a deep sleep. They spend less time crying, and have a better chance at breastfeeding successfully (it also helps improve a mothers milk production) to help gain weight faster.
